'The Insider's Guide to Sydney Australia - the Harbour City'

Welcome to Inside-Sydney-Australia.com

Sydney is home to many amazing and well-known features: Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge and Taronga Zoo, just to name a few.

Around the stunning setting of Sydney Harbour - from the Harbour heads, Bondi Beach and Manly, to the exciting and bustling high-rise area of the CBD - is where much of the action occurs.

And, the city is capable of delivering some great experiences beyond the postcard pictures that are so well known.

The history of Sydney includes the ancient culture of the Eora Aboriginal people. Aboriginal culture is steeped in legend, and was formed by 'The Dreaming' when ancestral spirits shaped the land and gave birth to the animals and plants.

Today Sydney's Aboriginal people recount their history through unique cultural presentations. A ticket to see the Bangarra Dance Theatre Company will recounts Aboriginal history through modern dance, while jumping aboard the Tribal Warrior Harbour Cruise will give you an Aboriginal perspective of the famous Harbour.

The city and the greater metropolitan area is surrounded by unique national parks, where you can walk, hike, ride and camp. I hail from the Blue Mountains and can attest to our national parks’ extraordinary beauty.

A huge variety of festivals celebrate everything that makes this city tick, including the arts, food and wine, gardens and the multicultural heritage of the city’s population.

Add a drop of sandy, surfy beaches, and you can reconnect with the ocean, whilst experiencing the beach-side culture the city is famous for.

Our Sydney - Your Sydney

One creator of Inside Sydney Australia is Sydney born and bred. The other has been a long, long time resident. Together we have experienced many of the great things the city has to offer.

Each month the city puts on a dazzling array of things to do, and we continue to add more experiences to the website.

Starting with Sydney attractions, you can experience the unique feeling of climbing the Bridge, or check out the latest exhibition at the Sydney Aquarium or National Maritime Museum.

Some Sydney events are huge annual parties, such as the month-long Sydney Festival, the popular ideas and light festival ‘Vivid’, or the Sydney Writers’ Festival.

Others are one-off features occurring around Sydney's premier venues, such as music and shows at the Opera House, the national and international theatre productions of the Sydney Theatre Company, Bell Shakespeare Theatre and Belvoir Theatre, or the feature presentations of the Art Gallery of NSW, Powerhouse Museum and Australian Museum.

Some of the best and most fun things happening are local area and community events around the suburbs. The diversity of the city’s people brings great food, local festivals, boutique shopping and other multicultural experiences.

And lets face it, Sydney is a big city, and it can't always be good. So if something 'ain't so great', we will let you know.

That aside, from the big, to the little, these are the things that make Sydney great. And we love to get out, experience, and write about them.
